The bells at St.Margaret's have been calling people to worship for nearly 400 years. Our band of ringers continue this tradition for regular services, weddings and other special occasions. This page tells you more about bellringing at St. Margaret's.

St Margaret's Bellringing Rehearsal - April 2026
The band of bellringers at St.Margaret’s rings the eight bells regularly for Sunday morning services from 9.15am on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month, and also for festivals, at times of celebration and for weddings (on request). We embrace both the young and those who are still young at heart, age and gender are no barrier to ringing! All we ask is that you can access the ringing platform via the uneven circular stone staircase and you are tall enough to learn the ropes!
If you would like to discover more about the art and science of bellringing we would love to see you. We welcome any ringer to our practise sessions, even if you ring elsewhere regularly - we have much to learn from one another. We're also very keen for people to join us in ringing regularly for our services and will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy ringing here with us. To find out more you can be in touch with Colin Salter, our Tower Captain on 07961 891728 or email bells.stmagsips@gmail.com
Complete beginners are welcome - we can teach you all you need to know. Practice is every Tuesday evening from 7pm - we gather on the north side of the church (around the back of the church) - do be in touch with Colin if you're planning to come along.
We enjoy super facilities here at St Margaret's, including a ringing platform that is visible from the nave of the church and training facilities too. If you're part of a ringing community elsewhere and would like to visit, do be in touch.
